MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of 21 years of age. High School Degree or possession of G.E.D. LICENSE: Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Class C California driver’s license. As a POST program participant, all applicants must meet the minimum selection standards as set forth in the Government Sections 1029 and 1031.
Police Officer (Academy Complete): Must be employed by a California police agency and be in possession of a P.O.S.T. Basic Certificate or be P.O.S.T. approved academy trained within the last 36 months. If employed by a policy agency outside of California, candidate must have passed the P.O.S.T. equivalency exam.
Entry Level (Police Recruit): As a recruit, you will attend a P.O.S.T.-certified Police Academy designed to provide an overview of the criminal justice system, training in various laws and procedures, law enforcement techniques, first aid, physical fitness and related duties. Upon successful completion of the Police Academy, recruits will receive a salary adjustment to reflect that of the Police Officer salary and enter the City of Santa Paula Police Department field training program and will be assigned to the Patrol Division on a probationary status for up to one year
