Selection Criteria
To apply for this eligibility list the applicant must have a minimum of two years paid experience working as a career firefighter/EMT within Virginia with the following requirements:
– Firefighter I & II (Pro Board); Applicants who possess certifications from any other state must be eligible to obtain reciprocity from the Virginia Department of Fire Programs.
– Virginia EMT or National Registry EMT

** Applicants who meet the requirements of two years paid experience working as a career firefighter/EMT with the corresponding requirements MAY be considered for an abbreviated 8 week training/orientation class. Subject to certificate verification.


Education and Experience
Must be at least 18 years of age at time of written exam, have a valid driver’s license at time of application and possess a high school diploma or GED by October 1, 2018.

Special Requirements
Applicant must meet further duly authorized requirements of the County Fire and Rescue Department within the time limits specified therein before obtaining status as a permanent employee;
