Description The fundamental responsibility of the EMT-P is to conserve life, to alleviate suffering, to promote health, to do no harm and to encourage the quality and equal availability of emergency medical care. The EMT-P is qualified in advanced pre-hospital emergency care and services by a competency-based educational program of clinical, didactic, and practice. The standard of practice of the EMT-P shall be in accordance with the most current edition of the US DOT “Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic: National Standard Curriculum”, as modified by the MS SDOH DEMS and AMR.
Requirements
Paramedic Basic Background Qualifications:
The educational background, specific knowledge and specific career experiences required (and desired) to be considered as a potential job candidate are shown below. These basic qualifications are only an initial part of determining a qualified candidate.
Minimum Qualifications
* High school diploma or equivalent (GED). * Must be at least 18 years of age. * Possess a valid State Driver’s License. * Current state or National Registry Paramedic Certification. * Current BCLS, ACLS, PALS, BTLS OR PHTLS Provider Certification. * Driving record in compliance with AMR policy regarding insurability. * Some advanced education preferred. Some past work experience, preferably in healthcare desired. * Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
