Description The fundamental responsibility of the EMT-P is to conserve life, to alleviate suffering, to promote health, to do no harm and to encourage the quality and equal availability of emergency medical care. The EMT-P is qualified in advanced pre-hospital emergency care and services by a competency-based educational program of clinical, didactic, and practice. The standard of practice of the EMT-P shall be in accordance with the most current edition of the US DOT “Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic: National Standard Curriculum”, as modified by the MS SDOH DEMS and AMR.
Requirements

The educational background, specific knowledge and specific career experiences required (and desired) to be considered as a potential job candidate are shown below. These basic qualifications are only an initial part of determining a qualified candidate.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (GED). Must be at least 18 years of age. Possess a valid State Driver’s License. Current state or National Registry Paramedic Certification. Current BCLS, ACLS, PALS, BTLS OR PHTLS Provider Certification. Driving record in compliance with AMR policy regarding insurability. Some advanced education preferred. Some past work experience, preferably in healthcare desired. Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
