A High school diploma or GED
Possession of a valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional Rescuer Certificate
Possession of a valid Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certificate
A Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) Certificate issued within the last twelve months
Certificates/licenses: Incumbents must successfully complete a California State Fire Marshall Firefighter I Academy course within twelve (12) months from the date of appointment.
Incumbents must acquire and maintain a valid Emergency Medical Technician certificate issued by the California State Department of Health, within one year from the date of appointment.
Incumbents must possess a valid California Class C driver license, or higher, prior to appointment; and will be required to obtain and maintain a Firefighter Endorsement within six (6) months from date of appointment.
Incumbents must acquire and maintain an Air Operations Area driver permit issued by the Department of Airports within two weeks of appointment.
Failure to maintain the appropriate driver license may constitute cause for personnel action in accordance with Civil Service Rules or applicable bargaining agreement. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Appropriate certificates must be kept current while employed in this class; failure to obtain or keep current the appropriate certificates is cause for personnel action in accordance with Civil Service Rules or applicable bargaining agreement, to include dismissal or return to a former class, if applicable.
