Minimum Job Requirements
High School Diploma or GED certificate.
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Valid Class C Driver’s License, with clear driving record. Must have Texas Driver’s License within 30 days of hire. Must possess a valid Texas Class B Exempt Driver’s License within six months of employment.
Certification as a Basic Structural Firefighter through the Texas Commission on Fire Protection.
Certification as an EMT-Basic or Paramedic through the Texas Department of State Health Services. Full-time employees must be certified by the Texas Department of State Health Services as a paramedic. Employees hired as an EMT will be required to attend and successfully complete a paramedic-training program, pass the National Registry Paramedic certification exam, maintain Paramedic certification with the Texas Department of State Health Services, and remain authorized to function as a paramedic by the Medical Director. An employee will be given six (6) months and/or three (3) attempts to pass the National Registry Paramedic certification exam upon successful completion of paramedic school. If the employee currently possesses a paramedic certification, he/she will be eligible to receive paramedic certification pay.
This position requires the completion of the National Incident Management System (NIMS) core curriculum class IS 700, 800 ICS 100, and 200 upon employment or within six months of employment.
