Entry Requirements and Skills
Applicants must be a United States citizen; possess a valid driver’s license; good moral character; and be 18 years of age by date of hire.
Applicants must have current certification as an Iowa Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Iowa Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) or Paramedic. National Registry Certification will also be accepted. Applicants with the National Registry Certification must complete the conversion process with the Iowa Department of Public Health, Bureau of EMS for Certification as an Iowa Emergency Medical Technician before an offer of employment can be extended.
Firefighter I or II certification is desired, but not required to apply for part-time employment. This certification will be required within time frame established when offer of employment is extended.
Applicants must upload the following documents as applicable and attach them electronically to their completed application:
Valid Driver’s License
Proof of Basic Life Support (CPR) Certification
Iowa or National EMT or Advanced EMT or Paramedic Certification card
Fire Fighter I and/or II Certifications
IO Solutions, National Firefighter Selection Inventory Certificate if taken within the past 12 months
Copy of a certificate of passing the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) or the Central Iowa Fire & EMS Testing Consortium Physical Ability Test taken within the past twelve (12) months
