Salary: $5,725.00 – $6,960.00 Monthly
Experience and Education Guidelines: Any combination equivalent to experience and education that would most likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Education: High school diploma or legal equivalent (GED) and completion of sixty (semester) college units or ninety (quarter) college units.
Experience: Must be eligible to attend a State of California POST-certified Basic Police Academy.
Must be 21 years of age or older.
Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien who is eligible and has applied for citizenship.
Possession of a California POST Entry Level Law Enforcement Test Battery (PELLETB) “T-score” of 48 points or higher dated within one year of application. NOTE: California POST “T-scores” from other agencies will be accepted if it has been taken within one year of the date you submit your City of San Leandro application. Applicants must submit, on agency letterhead, a letter that states that individual has taken the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Entry Level Law Enforcement Test Battery (PELLETB) written exam. Possession of a California POST physical agility test certificate, known as the Work Sample Test Battery (WSTB), with a score of 384 or higher and a 14-minute maximum time for the 1.5 mile run, dated within one year of application. Record must be free from any felony convictions, or any convictions that would bar the applicant from legally possessing a firearm.
Applicant must be in good physical condition. Weight must be in proportion to height. Vision and physical condition must satisfy established POST medical standards. Please refer to https://post.ca.gov/medical-screening-manual.aspx for additional information.
Upon successful completion of the California POST Basic Police Academy, must possess a valid POST Basic Law Enforcement Academy Certification of Completion at the time of appointment to Police Officer classification.
At time of appointment as a Police Recruit Trainee, applicant must pass a comprehensive background check and be willing to work such hours and locations as are necessary to accomplish the job requirements; travel to attend meetings, seminars and conferences. Classification requires the possession and continued maintenance of a valid class “C” California driver’s license.
