Bachelor of Science in Homeland Security
UMUC's Bachelor of Science in Homeland Security focuses on the domestic and international security issues of homeland security, including international and domestic terrorism, infrastructure protection, strategic planning for security, international relations, intelligence operations and evaluation, and program management. The curriculum is designed to provide students with a global outlook, interpersonal skills, and awareness of current issues in homeland security. Graduates of the program will have the knowledge and skills to be leaders in government and industry security. Students who graduate with a major in Homeland Security will be able to: analyze the history of homeland security and evolving concepts in the field in relation to domestic and international security; describe current homeland security policies, operational theories, functions, and issues from both domestic and international perspectives; discuss the ethical, political, social, environmental, and economic issues related to homeland security planning and operations; differentiate the various threats to domestic and international security, including technological and political forms of terrorism; distinguish the various phases of intelligence operations, including planning, execution, administration, and evaluation; demonstrate the critical thinking and program management skills necessary to provide leadership and support in homeland security; and identify and use appropriate technological tools for effective operations in homeland security. This degree requires 120 credits of coursework to complete.

Bachelor of Science in Investigative Forensics
University of Maryland University College's Bachelor of Science in Investigative Forensics provides a thorough foundation in the knowledge and skills necessary to process and report on physical evidence at a crime scene or in connection with an investigation of civil liability. The curriculum, based on national guidelines, provides students with a basic foundation in investigative, scientific, and laboratory-based forensics, and introduces students to the various disciplines that make up the forensic collaborative workgroup. The major prepares students for career opportunities focused on the investigatory aspects of forensics. Students who graduate with a major in Investigative Forensics will be able to identify: the various types of evidence obtained during a crime scene investigation; typical forensic laboratory tests, such as trace evidence, impressions, firearms, questioned documents, and forensic biology and anthropology; and the different roles within the collaborative workgroup during an investigation. Students can also explain the role and the impact of investigative forensics within the criminal justice system; apply analytical and problem-solving skills in all three stages of crime scene investigation (scene documentation, evidence collection, and scene reconstruction). UMUC's Undergraduate Correctional Administration Certificate is designed to prepare students to work in adult, juvenile, and community corrections. The program considers emerging legal and ethical issues relating to offenders and correctional staff as well as emerging best practices for maintaining constitutionally sound environments. With appropriate choice of major and elective courses, this certificate may be completed while pursuing the Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. Core coursework includes: Introduction to Criminology, Correctional Administration, and Legal and Ethical Issues in Corrections. This certificate requires 18 semester hours to complete.

Undergraduate Certificate in Paralegal Studies
UMUC's Undergraduate Paralegal Studies Certificate focuses on the legal concepts, procedures, and skills used in a wide variety of legal environments. The program addresses the organization, functions, and processes of institutions in the U.S. legal system, roles and issues in the paralegal field, legal ethics, and selected specialty areas. The curriculum emphasizes important skills, including legal analysis, communication, legal research, computer competence, legal drafting, investigation, organization, and specialized legal skills. With appropriate choice of courses, this certificate may be completed while pursuing the Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies. However, students may not pursue the paralegal studies certificate within the associate of arts curriculum in legal studies. No more than 12 credits in certificate courses may be earned through transfer or prior-learning credit. This requirement may be fulfilled through transfer credit, and up to 30 credits may be earned through credit by examination or prior-learning portfolio credit. Total must include 18 credits in general education courses covering at least three different disciplines. No more than six 1-credit courses may be applied toward this certificate. Core coursework includes: Introduction to Law, Techniques of Legal Research, Legal Writing, and Legal Ethics. This certificate requires 60 semester hours to complete.
